Biografia:

 

(Montevideo 1928 - New York 1985)

 

1928   Born in Montevideo, Uruguay

1944   Studied drawing and painting at “Taller Torres Garcia” with
           the renowed artist Joaquin Torres Garcia

1946   First show of drawings together with the Hungarian sculptor Anthony

           Khun, Sao Paolo, Brazil

1949   Traveled to Argentina as set designer for the company of Modern  

           Dances of Miryan Winslow

           Traveled to Valparaiso and Santiago de Chil.

           Return to Buenos Aires as illustrator for the newspaper “El Laborista”

           and designed covers for the magazine “El Hogar”

1951–1956  Traveled through provinces of Argentina and Alta Gracia,  
           Cordoba,

           teaching drawing to children at the public library

1957   Perspective drawing and geometry professor at “Tomas Cabrera” 
           (Fine Arts Academy) in Salta, Argentina

1959   Returned to Montevideo, Uruguay to exhibit in “Amigos Del Arte”

           Traveled to United States with Carlos Paez to paint a mural at the Pan                American Union building in Washington, D.C.   

1960   First show in the United States at Georgetown University

             First prize in the Nacional Salon in Buenos Aires, Argentina

            Represented Uruguay in the International Exhibition for the

            Inauguration of the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires

            Traveled and showed work throughout the United States

1972–1974  Moved to Florence, Italy. Traveled throughout France, Germany,                  Belgium, Holland and Switzerland

1975    Returned to New York to print lithographs for Circle Fine Arts

1979    Atelier Dumas opened in New York printing own work as well as
            those of Peter Max, Agam, Romare Bearden, Dali, Erté, Peter Hurd,
            Ting, Karl Appel, Corneille, Vasarely, Omar Rayo, Sznajderman,
            Alpuy, Sanin,   

            Bonevardi, and others.

1980    Showed in Los Angeles and Chicago

1981    Showed in Washington, D.C.

1982    Invited to the “Il Bienal Del Grabado De America” in Maracaibo,

            Venezuela

            Show in Cincinnati, Ohio

1982    Lectured on lithography to the members of the Graphic Society
            of The Museum of Cincinnati.

1983    Exhibited at Interart ‘83 

             Exhibited at VI Bienal Latin American Printmaking, San Juan, 
            Puerto Rico

1984    Exhibited at Latin American Graphic Arts Bienial, Cayman Gallery,
            NYC Exhibited at Museo de Contemporary Arts, Caracas, Venezuela

1985    Exhibited at Nora Galleries, Great Neck, NY

            Passed away in NYC on April 5, 1985
